This course teaches how to decode fake news, to better identify, analyse and understand the codes within conspiracy videos. Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, we explore the anxieties and misinformation that have emerged. Please note, none of the individuals or institutions mentioned in this course are implicated in the unfounded accusations depicted herein.

Objectives:

  • Assess your current knowledge on a specific topic.
  • Master the art of checking and cross-referencing sources to grasp the journalistic approach.
  • Identify trustworthy online information sources.
  • Recognize cognitive biases commonly used in conspiracy theories.
  • Analyse web pages effectively.
  • Learn to interpret images critically. 
  • Understand the techniques used in video reporting.
